Why Slow Food?
In a world that often prioritizes speed and convenience, the Slow Food movement offers a refreshing alternative. Slow Food is a philosophy that promotes a more sustainable, enjoyable, and equitable approach to food. It encourages us to savor our meals, appreciate the traditions behind them, and support local producers.
At Pura Vida Catering, we take pride in our slow food. Do not be mistaken, our cooks have great skills, and they’re fast. We call it slow food because of the methods, resources, and culinary traditions that we utilize. We simmer meats at 300F for hours, as opposed to speed cooking in a really hot oven which causes the meat fibers to compress and be tough. We carefully select our produce and try our best to work with local producers. And lastly, we create a loving, fun, and welcoming space to prepare all of our food.
Fresh Ingredients!
At the heart of Slow Food is a commitment to quality ingredients. This means sourcing fresh, seasonal ingredients locally. By supporting local food systems, we are able to create delicious, flavorful food while contributing to the vitality of our communities.
Care and Attention to Detail
Slow Food is about more than just the ingredients; it's also about the preparation and presentation of our meals. Taking the time to cook a meal from scratch allows us to connect with the food we prepare and appreciate the craftsmanship involved in its creation.
Slow Food is a movement that invites us to rediscover the joys of eating. By embracing fresh ingredients, supporting local vendors, and taking the time to savor our meals, we can create a more sustainable and enjoyable food culture.
So, let's slow down, savor the moment, and celebrate the simple pleasures of good food.
With love,
